The pride of Purdue Fort Wayne basketball, John Konchar, secured a career-high 17 rebounds to go with 15 points, leading his Memphis Grizzlies to a, 116-108, comeback victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night.
Mitchell Fineran kicked a 39-yard field goal in overtime and Purdue finished off its best season since 2003 by overcoming a 14-point deficit and beating Tennessee 48-45 on Thursday in a record-setting Music City Bowl.
For the first time this year we have tie for our Must-See Moment on Fort Wayne’s NBC. After a neck and neck voting battle on Twitter Leo’s Cademon Bontrager and Concordia’s Ajani Washington walk away with the week’s honor.
The Leo Lions have came out of the gates blazing and are 5-0 in the early going of the season. The program returns six players, but also added Caedmon Bontrager, who’s made an intimidate impact at the forward position.
Williams had 21 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for Purdue (8-1, 1-1 Big Ten), which was a unanimous No. 1 in this week’s AP Top 25, the program’s first time atop the poll. Its stay will be brief.
