In a survey of more than 1,500 managers at companies in the U.S., 46% revealed plans to add staff during the second half of the year. Another 46% expect to fill vacated positions and only 8% foresee hiring freezes.
The research also shows:
Demand for contract and early-career talent is on the rise. 45% of hiring managers plan to expand their teams by bringing in contract professionals – especially in technology (60%). 72% of employers intend to increase hiring of entry-level or early-career professionals.
Hiring is hard. 88% of managers are facing challenges with hiring, including lack of qualified talent and candidates' salary expectations exceeding what the company is willing to offer. To attract talent, employers are increasing starting salaries, providing signing bonuses and offering remote work options.
Employers expect more quits. 51% of managers reported an increase in voluntary turnover in their department in the last year, and 78% are concerned about more employees quitting.
