Cooling shelters to open Wednesday amid hot, humid conditions
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The City of Fort Wayne announced on Tuesday that it has designated a downtown cooling station ahead of Wednesday’s heat wave.
With temperatures expected to hit the lower 90s on Wednesday with humidity that could make it feel close to 100 degrees, City leaders say the lobby of the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory will serve as a cooling station. The cooling station, located at 1100 S. Calhoun St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2.
The Salvation Army is also offering its office at 2901 N. Clinton as a cooling shelter on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, The Rescue Mission is open daily to the public as a cooling shelter from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 404 E. Washington Blvd.
