FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A woman has life-threatening injuries after a shooting early Saturday morning.

Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were called to the 1800 block of Pontiac Street just after 2:00 on a report of a shooting. Police say when they got there, they found a woman who had been shot. She was taken to a local hospital.

Investigators say they believe the shooting took place at the intersection of Anthony Boulevard and Oxford Street while the woman was in the passenger seat of a vehicle stopped at a red light. Police say the driver tried to drive the woman to the hospital, but then pulled over to call 911.

FWPD officials said they found several shell casings at that intersection and closed part of the roadway to collect evidence.

If you have any information, you’re asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department, or Crime Stoppers.
