FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - After what’s been a dry and quiet stretch of weather across the Hoosier state, things are changing up for this week! A summer weather pattern will lock in the central portion of the country with hot temperatures, keeping us right on the boundary of the developing heat dome. Several rain showers and storms will run along the boundaries of this summer setup, eventually moving into our region.

The earliest chance for us to see any rain or storm activity will come sometime after sundown on the 4th of July going into Tuesday morning. If you plan to do fireworks, your best bet is to do them tonight or early on Monday night.

We’ll keep chances for rain and storms in the forecast during each day of this workweek, with some relief from the wet pattern possibly coming by the weekend.

Tonight: Mostly clear and dry; Low: 66

Independence Day: Increasing clouds, some showers possible after sundown; High: 91
