FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A man is dead after crashing into a sign in the 1000 block of West Coliseum Boulevard Monday morning, the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) said.

FWPD says just after 9:30 a.m. Monday, the driver of a car went off the road and crashed into the Regency Inn sign, 1004 W. Coliseum Boulevard. Medics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and the airbags deployed, FWPD said.

Police believe a medical episode caused the driver to crash. The official cause and manner of death will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

The crash is under investigation.
