FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A motorcyclist is dead and a portion of West State Boulevard near the DANA plant is closed as police investigate a crash involving a motorcycle.

At 6:49 a.m., Monday, emergency crews were called to the 2100 block of West State Boulevard in front of DANA Corporation for a man lying unresponsive in the road, Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) said.

Police say an SUV, a car, and a motorcycle were involved in the crash. Investigators believe the SUV, that was going east on West State Boulevard, was turning north into the DANA parking lot when the motorcycle going east on West State Boulevard swerved to miss the turning SUV. While swerving to miss the SUV, investigators say the motorcyclist hit the rear corner of the SUV, then sideswiped a car. The crash caused the motorcyclist to be thrown.

The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The identity of the motorcyclist will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office after the next of kin has been notified.
