FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Animal advocates including Fort Wayne Humane and the Indiana Humane societies marched for beagles outside the Indiana Statehouse Thursday morning.

The group marched in honor of 80 beagles housed at the Inotiv laboratory in Lafayette, Indiana that was subjected to toxicity testing. Thirty of the beagles at the lab were scheduled to be euthanized in May after testing at the lab was completed. The lab performed tests for a contract with Crinetics, a California-based pharmaceutical company, the Humane Society of the United States said in a statement.

The group called for Inotiv and Crinetics to release the remaining 50 dogs and highlighted plans for legislation in the 2023 session.
