FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The City of Fort Wayne says the Solid Waste Department continues to help Red River maintain operational levels for garbage and recycling collection because of lower staffing levels and higher tonnage in recent weeks.

The City said in a statement Tuesday that the delays could continue until GFL Environmental USA takes over collection services on July 1.

Crews should be finishing up with Thursday and Friday trash collection routes today and hopes to move to Monday routes, the City says.

The City warns that the recycling collection that was supposed to be picked up last week is not likely to be picked up until the next scheduled collection date next week. Residents can drop off recycling at community collection sites.

Residents are asked to set out their garbage and recycling the night before their regularly scheduled pick-up dates.
