FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is looking for information from the public after shots were fired on the City’s southeast side Wednesday.
FWPD officers say they were called to the area of Holton and Creighton Avenues around 11 a.m. after a caller said shots were fired and someone was seen running off immediately after. Police say it is not known what the intended target was or if anyone was hurt as initial information was limited and inconsistent.
Police detained and questioned two people during the investigation but say they were released a short time after. No arrests have been made.
Detectives say they were unsure where the actual shooting took place and media personnel guided them to shell casings at Holton and Creighton Avenues. The casings were collected and placed into evidence.
“Public safety is a shared community responsibility and anyone with information about the shooting is asked to please call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1201, Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867, or use the anonymous free P3 tips app,” FWPD said in a release.
