FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A campaign to connect sexual violence survivors to needed resources kicked off Tuesday.
The Women’s Fund of Greater Fort Wayne say say the No Matter What campaign is designed to “quickly, efficiently, and discreetly connect survivors to the up-to-date resources they need most”. The Women’s Fund says research shows that 30% of women in Allen County have experienced some form of sexual violence.
“We need sexual violence survivors in our community to know they are worthy of easily accessible resources to support them in their time of need: no matter what,” said Cassie Beer, Women’s Fund Director.
The group says there are many resources in the Fort Wayne area for survivors, but it is often unclear where they should go to get the help they need. Officials say members will be delivering QR Code stickers to over 40 local businesses, libraries, fitness centers, restaurants, and bars to place the stickers in their bathroom stalls. They say the stickers will link to the No Matter What website where survivors can find the necessary resources.
The website provides a plethora of information that survivors may find useful--from what to do after an assault, places to find support, advocacy services and therapy, and how to take legal action. They also list resources for survivors who are minors.
If you have permission to add QR code stickers to a public bathroom, you can use this link to sign up to have stickers delivered to you.
“We still have a long road ahead of us to eradicate sexual violence in our community, but connecting survivors to the resources they need is a great place to start. No matter what,” the news release reads.
