FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A Fort Wayne man has been arrested after fleeing an arrest and hitting an Allen County patrol car Sunday.

The Allen County Sheriff’s department says Dustin Wade Freeman, 30, was the driver of a truck that had gotten stuck in a yard in the 10800 block of Trade Wind Court around 5:14 a.m. Freeman was able to get the truck unstuck and then fled the scene, police said.

A short time later, an Allen County police officer saw the truck in the area of Dupont Road and Interstate 69. Police say the driver of the truck did a U-turn and drove towards the officer, hitting the driver’s side door and quarter panel, then drove a short distance away before stopping. Police say the officer, who was not injured in the crash, was able to get out of his car and arrest Freeman.

Freeman has been charged with two counts of operating while intoxicated, two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage crash, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, and resisting.
