FWPD respond to domestic dispute Sunday morning
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department say they were called to the 7900 block of Serenity Drive Sunday morning following a domestic dispute.
Police say when they arrived on the scene they were advised that a man was inside the apartment and possibly armed with a handgun. Officers spoke with the man through the door but they say he refused to come out. Police heard what they believed were items being moved from inside near the door of the apartment. They say they used their PA system and other ways to contact the man but they failed.
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team,Crisis response Team, and Air Support Unit were paged to the scene.
After several hours, officers say the man jumped from a second story window and landed on the ground where he was immediately taken into custody and treated by paramedics. He was transported to a hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
This incident is under investigation.
