Volunteers get to take an adoptable dog from Humane Fort Wayne’s shelter out for a guided walk through Fort Wayne’s trail system.

“It’s just an opportunity for not only trail users to have companions on their walks, but also for the dogs, the adoptable dogs at Humane Fort Wayne to get out and experience nature, experience our parks, get some exercise,” Greenways and Trails manager Dawn Ritchie said.

Ritchie says it also provides exposure and visibility to help these dogs find their forever homes.

After this weekend’s kickoff, you’ll need to go through Humane Fort Wayne to set up a time to volunteer. Click here for the link.
