Witnesses fail to appear at murder trial, warrants issued
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Two witnesses scheduled to appear on the first day of a murder trial for a 24-year-old man failed to show up Tuesday morning. Warrants have been issued for their arrest.
Cameron Blake Hallett is charged with the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Eric McDonnell on Feb. 19, 2020. Police say McDonnell was beaten and shot in an alley off McKee behind Euclid Avenue on the city’s southeast side. McDonnell was rushed to the hospital but didn’t survive.
Court documents say Hallett ambushed the McDonnell, and it was all caught on camera. Investigators say McDonnell named the killer when two witnesses ran to the scene, saying “Blako shot me”. The two witnesses then worked with police to identify Hallett, whose middle name is Blake, as the killer.
