FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Central Noble’s magical season ended just shy of the program’s ultimate goal, as the Cougars finished as the Class 2A state runner-up after falling to Providence Saturday.

CN found themselves in what seemed like an insurmountable hole when faced with 25-9 deficit to the Pioneers after one quarter of play in the 2A state final. Connor Essegian and Central Noble battled back, cutting Providence’s advantage to nine at one point.

However, in the end the Pioneers prevailed, dribbling away with the 62-49 victory.

Essegian finished his final high school basketball game going down swinging, recording a team-high 18 points.

Central Noble concluded its season with a 28-3 overall record.
