Police surround North Manchester home, seeking suspect tied to shooting of Illinois officers
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A source has confirmed to Fort Wayne’s NBC that a suspect in the shooting of two Illinois officers might have fled to a home in North Manchester, near Manchester University.
A spokesperson with Indiana State Police confirms they are assisting the Illinois State Police in the investigation.
Our crew on the scene reports several Indiana State Police cars and a SWAT vehicle are outside a house in the 1000 block of Bond Street in North Manchester. A neighbor told Fort Wayne’s NBC that one person came out of the house earlier in the morning, but police are still asking for a second person to come out of the house.
According to WLS in Chicago, two officers in Kankakee County, Illinois were responding to a call about dogs barking in an unattended vehicle at a Comfort Inn, Wednesday. The two officers eventually went to a room where they believed the owner of the vehicle was and were shot.
One officer died and another is in critical condition.
According to Illinois State Police, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Darius Sullivan and Xandra Harris in connection to the shooting.
