FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Friday afternoon, Walmart officials sent a note saying the Maysville Road location will be closed through Sunday morning for cleaning due to the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases.

The release says starting at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, the store at 10420 Maysville Road will be closed to allow a third-party specialist to sanitize the store. They say they plan to reopen at 6 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19.

“As you know, several areas across the country have begun seeing a renewed increase in positive COVID-19 cases, and we want to assist health officials working against the pandemic. In support of this effort, we have chosen to temporarily close our Fort Wayne store location at 10420 Maysville Road at 2 p.m. as part of an ongoing company-initiated program,” the release says.

They say when the store reopens Sunday, they will continue health assessments for employees, and say all unvaccinated associates must still wear face coverings.
