Fort Wayne man handed 80 years in killing of wife
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The Fort Wayne man who pleaded guilty to fatally shooting his wife in March has been sentenced.
56-year-old David Nelson Carwile II pleaded guilty to murder and use of a firearm in the March 19 shooting death of his 59-year-old wife, Joyce Carwile, at their home in the 4400 block of Alverado Drive. Her death marked Allen County’s 8th homicide in 2021.
The day before the shooting, Joyce called 911 to report a domestic dispute, saying her husband looked at her and said, “I wish you were dead.”
In court on Friday, Carwile was sentenced to 80 years behind bars in the case.
