Man arrested in Hicksville abduction facing charges in 2019 sex assault case
HICKSVILLE, Ohio (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A Hicksville man charged in a 2019 sexual assault case was arrested on Tuesday for abduction, police say.
The Antwerp Police Department says they have arrested 49-year-old Douglas T. Blade after they say he abducted a woman from the Marathon Gas Station on W High St. in Hicksville and assaulted her.
Around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, police say they attempted to locate Blade at his home at 505 Whitten Ave., but he would not cooperate with officers. They then set up a perimeter around the home while waiting for a search warrant and the Ohio State Highway Patrol SRT Team to respond.
Around 6:15 p.m., officers say they were able to get Blade to leave the home and he was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with abduction and domestic violence. Police say Blade has a history of violence and is currently awaiting sentencing for a gross sexual imposition charge from a 2019 sexual assault investigation in Hicksville. He is set to appear in court for the abduction charges on Wednesday.
