FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - One person is dead after a motorcycle and sedan collided near Bishop Dwenger High School Tuesday afternoon, police say.

FWPD says they were called around 3:21 p.m. to a crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan at N Clinton St. and St. Joe Center Rd. When officers arrived, they say the driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the bike and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Clinton St. at a high rate of speed. As the motorcycle was coming to the entrance of Bishop Dwenger High School, the sedan pulled out from the entrance to travel northbound on Clinton St. They say the motorcycle could not stop in time and collided with the sedan, that was carrying a driver and a juvenile in the rear passenger seat. Both people in the sedan were not injured.

Investigators say they’re canvassing for witnesses and cameras in the area that may have seen or recorded the accident. The cause and manner of death will be released by the Coroner’s office at a later date. This incident remains under investigation at the time of this report.
