Victim in Sunday shooting identified by coroner
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The man who was killed in a shooting at the Abors of Southtown Square apartments on Sunday has been identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Police were called to the apartment complex in the 7900 block of Old Decatur Road around 1 a.m. Sunday and found one man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police arrested 19-year-old Dakota Waudby on a charge of murder in connection to the shooting.
The coroner has now identified the victim as 34-year-old Renako Sadiki Kenyatta Thomas of Fort Wayne. His cause of death was ruled to be a gunshot wound to the chest and the manner of death was ruled as a homicide.
Thomas’ death marks the 38th homicide in Allen County so far this year.
