Group protesting sale of Salamonie River State Forest trees Saturday
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - A group gathered at the Allen County Courthouse Saturday to protest a timber sale at Salamonie River State Forest.
The group stood outside the courthouse from noon to two Saturday calling for people to tell Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana DNR not to use the forest for commercial logging.
The Facebook page says the event was hosted by the Indiana Forest Alliance.
The Salamonie River State Forest is one of two state forests north of Indianapolis.
Organizers say the trees play an essential role is combating the climate crisis.
