FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The January trial of a man accused of stabbing and killing a woman and three children will be pushed to at last May, following a hearing at the Allen County Courthouse on Tuesday.

Judge Fran Gull granted a motion to delay the trial of Cohen Hancz-Barron. She re-set that trial for May 17, 2022, with a pre-trial conference in February.

Prosecutors allege Hancz-Barron stabbed to death Sarah Nicole Zent, 26; her sons, Carter Matthew Zent, 5, and Ashton Duwayne Zent, 3; and daughter, Aubree Christine Zent, 2, last June. Their bodies were found in a Fort Wayne home, and Hancz-Barron was located hours later in Lafayette, Ind. An autopsy determined that Sarah Zent was also strangled.

The prosecution is seeking a life sentence without the possibility of parole in the case.
