Body believed to be of missing Illinois child found in Indiana retention pond
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Indiana State Police say they believe they found the body of a missing 1-year old Illinois girl in a retention pond near Interstate-80 in Hammond, Indiana.
Police say they’re still waiting for official confirmation, but the girl is believed to be Jaclyn “Angel” Dobbs. Earlier this week, Illinois police received a missing persons report on the child’s mother, 21-year old Janya Murphy.
They found her strangled to death inside her home, and they say there were signs that her 1-year old daughter had been abducted. Thursday, police said some construction workers near I-80 in Hammond, Indiana say they saw something floating in a pond near their worksite.
Investigators say a person of interest has been located in Missouri and is currently being questioned.
