GK Dutch Apple Pie

Yield: 1 Pie

Apple Filling

5.5c apples, honeycrisp are my go to- but any apple variety would be lovely

1 tbl lemon juice

1/2c sugar

1/4c brown sugar

3 tbl flour

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/2 tsp salt

Peel , core and slice apples and transfer to a bowl. Add in sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Toss or stir until even coated. Pour into a raw prepared pie dough.

Oat Streusel Topping

3/4c flour

1/4c sugar

1/4c brown sugar

1/4c oats

1/3c butter, chilled and cubed

1/4tsp cinnamon

1/8tsp nutmeg

1/2tsp salt

In a bowl combine flour, sugar, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Using your hands work the chilled butter into the dough until the butter is pea sized. Pour over the oat streusel until all apples are covered. Bake at 350 for 40(ish) minutes or until the streusel is golden brown and the juices begin to thicken and bubble around the edges.
