FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The man who was fatally shot early Wednesday morning at West Wind Apartments has been identified as a 22-year-old, according to the coroner.

Around 1:30 a.m., police responded to the 2100 block of Point West Dr. and found one man with stab wounds and another man with gunshot wounds at the scene. Officers say they believe there was “an altercation” between the two men prior to the call.

The gunshot victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay, the coroner says.

The coroner has identified the man who was fatally shot as Jonathon Christopher Jackson of Fort Wayne. His death was ruled a homicide, marking the 37th in Allen County so far this year.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
