Father-son Headley duo dominate Gas City Speedway
GAS CITY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The Headley story begins with Elza Headley racing at Gas City Speedway.
His son, James Headley, watching in the stands.
“Good memories when he won,” James said outside his home.
“I’ve got so many of them.”
Inspired by his father, James began racing in 1996, starring from the start, piling up one win after another and, eventually, being inducted into Gas City Speedway’s “Walk of Fame in 2019.
His son, James Jr. (JimTom), spectating at the Speedway for years, eager to make the Headley name his own.
“As far as a I can remember, racing go-karts, four-wheelers,” James Jr. said preparing for his official racing debut in 2018.From the jump, James Jr. stung in the Hornets division, winning Rookie of the Year honors and taking first place in the James Dean Classic at Gas City Speedway.
Now, James Sr. and James Jr. compete against one another all season long, consistently snatching first and second place spots in the standings.
