ISP: Fort Wayne man, woman arrested in Ossian shooting
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - State police have arrested two Fort Wayne residents in connection with a shooting Friday morning at BERNE Apparel in Ossian.
Officers were called to the business, located at 2501 E 850 N, around 10 a.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. He is said to be in serious condition.
Police were told the man who fired the shots fled the scene in a silver Chevrolet Impala and police were able to quickly locate him. He has since been identified as 28-year-old Reonte Cliffton Moore of Fort Wayne.
Moore was arrested around 10:20 a.m. traveling north on SR1, just south of I-469 in Allen County.
Police say they stopped the car, which was being driven by 21-year-old Jayana Lamia Herman with Moore in the passenger seat, and took both into custody.
Moore was arrested on charges of attempted murder and Herman was charged with aiding aggravated battery and aiding a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm.
Officers say it was an isolated incident and no other employees were injured.
The incident remains under investigation at the time of this report.
While Moore faces a preliminary charge of attempted murder in this matter, we can tell you, he’s only been out of prison for a matter of months. He was released after serving most of a four-year sentence for firing a shot into the wall of a Fort Wayne Mexican restaurant during an attempted robbery back in 2017.
He pleaded guilty in that case to three counts, in total. Records we’ve reviewed show - he was eligible for release back in March. He’s now being held at the Wells County jail.
