FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - The man who was caring for a baby girl is charged in her death.

Justin Lee Miller is charged with murdering 11-month-old Mercedes Lain. He was originally charged with neglect. Miller pleaded not guilty to those charges.

The remains of the girl were found in a wooded area several days after her reported disappearance. An autopsy found that she had sustained blunt force injuries to the head. The manner of death was classified as a homicide.
