Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) — Hoosiers are being warned after the Indiana State Department of Health found West Nile Virus in two mosquito groups in Tippecanoe County. 

According to WTHR, officials conducted tests on mosquitoes found in Tippecanoe County on June 28.  

They say this is the first positive test of West Nile Virus reported in 2018. Positive tests were also found last year and health experts anticipated the virus would return. 

Officials suggest protecting yourself when outdoors by wearing insect repellent with DEET. It's also suggested to stay away from standing water.
