1. On this day in 1777, the Continental Congress adopts the 13 stars and stripes for the American flag. 

2. On this day in 2003, Queen Elizabeth makes Helen Mirren a dame. 
    Mirren would later portray Elizabeth II in the 2006 film "The Queen." 

3.  On this day in 1998, Michael Jordan leads the Bulls to their 6th NBA title. 
    They beat the Utah Jazz 87-86, clinching their third consecutive NBA title.
