HUNTINGTON, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- Area law enforcement whipped up a breakfast for local veterans to celebrate Veterans Day one day early.

Area veterans were invited to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689 to enjoy a free breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday.

Biscuits and gravy, hash browns, eggs, and rolls were all up for grabs.

Members of the Huntington County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana State Police served the food, while some local inmates even chipped in by washing dishes.

Police also handed out several hundred free T-shirts to those who attended.

About 400 veterans attended this year.
